Speaking in Martin's place

MK Braatan rightly points that Martin has neglected as yet to publicly thank the United States for treating our wounded soldiers in an American military hospital.

So I thought I'd take a moment to do his job for him, paraphrasing his words from day 1 of the campaign:

I am told that Mr. Martin has had a little difficulty saying this, so let me say it.

Thank you America
.

This would probably not go over well amongst Liberal or potential Liberal voters. Most of those who want better relations with the United States are probably already in the Conservative camp.

I really don't give a damn, to be perfectly honest.

People may not be crazy about Bush, but a little decency would be in order.

He can wait until after the election is over and then thank them. Most people in the US who follow Canadian politics know how strong anti-Americanism runs in Canada, so they've come to expect it during elections.

Miles: If he calls after the election the Americans should hang up. Then again, they will anyways since he will not be the Prime Minister of Canada.

Brandon: Miles positively clings to your blog. Was he the last guy to wear your ring of power?

Anonymous - thats assuming he loses the election, which is the most likely outcome, but not a guarantee. If he wins, then I would call them up to thank them. There are enough undecideds out there as well as people who are still frightened of Stephen Harper that the Liberals could win.

Miles, Sneaking in the back to door to say thanks isn't saying thanks. Martin has as much chance of winning now as you have of biting the Ring off of Master B's finger.
